Milan is preparing to renew its bus fleet in the name of electrification. The goal is to have only 100% electric buses on the streets of the Lombard metropolitan city by 2030: this was announced by Gioia Ghezzi, the President of ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, who spoke on the occasion of the ISPI annual conference, the Institute for International Political Studies.
“The combination of digital renewal and green change it is absolutely essential. We are investing a lot in new technologies that allow us to have better driven buses not yet electric – the words of Ghezzi reported by Ansa – We are pushing for all buses in the metropolitan city to be electric by 2030. And to do this, there is an investment of 1.2 billion. For those, too, there are still smart boxes that make it possible to reduce emissions with better driving ”. We recall that in recent days the same ATM announced that it had decided to renew the fleet by focusing on electric vehicles, thanks to the contribution of 75 electric buses and new trams produced by Stadler: overall, the company has decided to invest up to 1.5 billion euros to meet the sustainability objectives.
