The Rossoneri at the top of this special ranking together with Napoli. Lazio and Inter follow
A Milan formed … blackjack: 21 victory, great revelry. Or maybe a big attack. Excellent maneuvers. Seen the movie “21” ?, Kevin Spacey and Jim Sturgess with Robert Luketic directing. It tells the story of Ben Campbell, a math talent who flies to Las Vegas every weekend to play blackjack by counting cards. 21 is the key: whoever comes closest to that number, or perhaps reaches it, beats the dealer and wins. Hence “21 victory, great revelry”.
THE 21 OF PIOLI
–
Pioli follows the same trend. Twenty-one goals from action scored by his Milan in the first eleven outings in the league. In Serie A – apart from Spalletti’s Napoli, but with an additional four at Sassuolo – none like the Rossoneri. Twenty-one goals managed, built in training, from Leao to Diaz, from Messias to Rebic. In piolism it is marked like this. The podium is completed by Lazio, the best defense of A. For the moment, however, the Rossoneri are all watching from above. A show of strength that is almost no longer news. The top scorer on this list? Obviously Leao, on the net on action on 5 occasions: Bologna, Inter (2), Empoli and Monza. Followed by Brahim Diaz (4), Rebic (3), Giroud (3) and the various one-man players such as Messias, Bennacer, Origi and Ballo-Touré. Added to these is Veloso’s own goal in Verona-Milan. The cooperative of the goal works great and Pioli knows it. After all, he built it, starting with the headlights off and reaching last year’s championship.
THE RANKING
–
Milan and Napoli in the lead with 21 goals from open play. Lazio follows them immediately after like Inter Milan, on the net 17 times. The surprise is Udinese, fifth with 14, followed by Sassuolo (12), Atalanta (11), Salernitana (10) and Turin (10). Juve more detached, stopped at 9 together with Verona. Then Empoli, Fiorentina and Bologna at 8, Lecce and Monza at 7. Only 6 goals from action for Cremonese, Spezia and Rome. Last was Sampdoria with 5. The Sampdoria also have the worst attack in Serie A with only six goals scored.
