Monterrey’s participation in the Club World Cup continues to give people something to talk about. The elimination of the Rayados against Al-Ahly continues to generate reactions from both the press, the fans and the Liga MX ecosystem itself. Recently, Miguel Herrera, technical director of Tigres, referred to the failure of the UANL team’s greatest rival. “El Piojo” lamented the result obtained by the albiazules and assured that his performance does not reflect the true level of Mexican soccer.
“Sad (the result), because it is a Mexican team. And it is not that it is the representation of Mexico, at that moment the country is represented by a team because it will attend a Club World Cup, but what happens with a team in the The Club World Cup…neither the Tigres final nor the elimination of Rayados reflects what the league is (…) It reflects what the team is, the moment it is going through.Unfortunately for Rayados the first game was not a good one and they didn’t achieve their objective. But everyone goes with the illusion of achieving the instances that Tigres achieved, reaching the final and at some point lifting the cup”
– Miguel Herrera in conference
Tigres, under the orders of Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferretti, reached the final of the 2020 Club World Cup against Bayern Munich. The UANL team became the first team from Liga MX and Concacaf to play this phase in the international fair. The felines fell by the slightest difference against the German team.
Currently the team led by “Piojo” is in sixth place in Liga MX. The felines have two wins, a draw and a loss in the first four days of the championship.
