Miguel Ángel Russo is the most successful coach of Millonarios in the last ten years. He arrived at the club at the beginning of 2017, replacing Diego Cocca, and in two years leading the team he won two titles.
Russo’s first crown with Millonarios was in the 2017-II League, in one of the most celebrated titles by the fans: he beat Santa Fe in the final in two classics (1-0 and 2-2).

Later, with Russo at a distance because he was in Argentina undergoing cancer treatment, Millonarios won the Superliga defeating Atlético Nacional as a visitor (1-2). The person in charge in those games was his technical assistant, also Argentine Hugo Gottardi.
Miguel Ángel Russo remains grateful to Millionaires
Russo left at the end of 2018, after being eliminated from the final stages of the tournament, but the affectionate relationship with the club and with the fans continues to this day.
This Saturday, Millonarios celebrated 76 years of its official foundation and Russo did not forget the celebration. In a message released through the club’s social networks, the Argentine coach sent a congratulatory greeting:
“On its 76th anniversary, a big greeting to all the people of Millos. Happy birthday, Millos, always in my heart. A big hug and always the best”, Russo said.

Where has Miguel Ángel Russo directed since he left Millonarios
After his departure from Millonarios, Russo directed Alianza Lima and Cerro Porteño and had a second stint at Boca Juniors, where he had already won the Copa Libertadores in 2007.
In that second stage, Russo won the League Cup and the Argentine Super League with Boca. He currently heads Al-Nassr, from Saudi Arabia.
