32 kilometers from the finish, the first big drag of the group was formed. López was one of those who pedaled the most in search of purging the main lot, he did it when the road got steep.
López made the leader tremble
As expected, several cyclists paid dearly for their bad moment and stayed. Then, it was Mikel Landa’s turn, who tried to pick up the pace, and at that point in the day López was the leader, as Alessandro Covi was one of those affected by the pace of the peloton and stayed in a second group.
Landa, Eddie Dunbar and Simon Yates, who were also looking for a better figure, went with the Astana cyclist from Boyaca. It was an important group, with cyclists capable of making a difference.
However, Covi, the leader, was benefited by the pursuit of other teams, which ruined the goal of López and company and were neutralized 22 kilometers from the finish.
Landa did not hold the pace. The group that was chasing managed to connect and with two kilometers to go there was a fall, Ineos cyclists got tangled up at the end of the day.
This Saturday, the fourth stage, Cúllar Vega and Baza, of 167 kilometers.
