The Israeli Army carried out a new selective attack in Beirut on Tuesday (24), the fifth since October last year, in the midst of an escalation of the conflict against the Shiite terrorist group Hezbollah, in Lebanon.
Tel Aviv claimed to have carried out strikes in areas adjacent to Dahieh, in the suburbs of the Lebanese capital, but did not provide further details about the military operation, according to the Lebanese news agency NNAthe bombing targeted a six-story building in the Ghobeiry area, which is part of Dahieh.
One of Israel’s strikes the previous day in southern Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, targeted Lebanese militia commander Ali Karaki, who the group said was unharmed and later transferred to a safe area.
Defense sources told Israeli media on Tuesday that another target of the airstrikes in the Lebanese capital was the head of Hezbollah’s missile unit, Ibrahim Qubaisi. Two security sources in Lebanon told the agency Reuters that the target was killed.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah launched more than 100 rockets into northern Israel, triggering sirens in cities including Haifa, Safed, Nazareth and Yokne’am, as well as throughout the Galilee.
Israel Defense Forces Chief Herzi Halevi said Tuesday following a military assessment that Israel will further intensify its actions against Hezbollah.
“Hezbollah must not be given a truce. [Devemos] “We will continue to work with all our strength,” he said in comments provided by the IDF. “We will accelerate offensive operations today and reinforce all headquarters. The situation requires continued intensive action on all fronts.”
