Microsoft has replied to the allegations of Sony on the risk of a monopoly situation after the acquisition of Activision, and it did so also and above all by pointing the finger on PlayStation exclusivesin particular third party ones.
As you will recall, Sony has expressed to the Brazilian antitrust (but apparently the situation is more or less the same in the various countries) perplexity about the important operation by beating on two topics in particular: the fact that Call of Duty has no rivals and the excessive growth of Xbox Game Pass.
There has been a lot of talk about it: it is one entirely legitimate strategy by a direct competitor, who obviously tries to embarrass the counterpart by preventing it from becoming even more relevant and stealing users from it.
Well, as mentioned, Microsoft responded to these accusations by highlighting Sony’s conduct on the exclusivity front, even third party ones, as well as the fact that the Japanese house also has absolutely recognizable brands associated with PlayStation.
“Sony and Nintendo have a strong and differentiated offering, which includes their own exclusive games,” reads a note from Microsoft sent to the New Zealand antitrust. “For example, IDC has identified that the 2018 Sony exclusives include God of War And Marvel’s Spider-Manin addition to other important productions such as The Last of Us And Uncharted. “
“Well, these titles reflect a vertical integration of Sony (see for example the company’s film studios that own the Spider-Man license), but also a broader strategy that aims to obtain the rights to create exclusive third parties for their consoles. “In this sense, the document explicitly mentions Final Fantasy VII.
