Microsoft has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the next chapter in the series, will be available on the first day of release on Xbox Game Pass. An official post on Xbox Wire blog has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be included in Microsoft’s game subscription service later this year. “We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to dive into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass,” said Megan Spurr, senior community lead for Xbox Game Pass. In a separate trailer, Xbox confirmed that Black Ops 6 will be available on both Xbox Game Pass for consoles and PC Game Pass.
The confirmation comes after several questions regarding the availability of Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass. Earlier this month, there was talk of an internal debate at Microsoft about including new Call of Duty releases in Game Pass, with concerns that revenue generated from traditional Call of Duty sales could be compromised by the service by subscription. Activision, in fact, traditionally sells more than 20 million copies of Call of Duty, each at a price of around 70 euros.
It’s still unclear whether Microsoft plans to raise the prices of its Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and the company has yet to announce a release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. However, it’s understandable that Activision is eyeing a release at the end of October, in time for the Christmas season. Microsoft plans to provide more details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during a special stream following Xbox’s main summer reveal event on June 9. Xbox’s main presentation will also include the announcement of a new Gears of War chapter, along with the next Doom game. Additionally, numerous details will be announced about the release dates of anticipated games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
