Los Angeles.- A Mexican was sentenced to spend 30 years in prison after being found guilty of smuggling hundreds of kilos of marijuana pIt was a criminal gang that used undocumented immigrants to transport the drug, said the Department of Justice of United States.
Víctor Gerardo N, 34, a native of Ciudad Juárez, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, was sentenced last Wednesday in a Texas federal court on one count of conspiracy to traffic more than a thousand kilos of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Víctor Gerardo N was a member of the Gente Nueva de Durango drug trafficking organization from 2013 until his arrest in early June 2019.

According to the Department of Justice, the criminal group controls the smuggling of undocumented immigrants and drugs through the Juárez Valley, south of the Lower Valley of El Paso County, Texas. The criminal gang used undocumented immigrants who carried makeshift backpacks with around 50 pounds (23 kilos) of marijuana.
As the organization’s smuggling coordinator, Víctor Gerardo N managed operations throughout the Juárez Valley, including the distribution of marijuana and the transportation of drug proceeds back to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
According to the indictment, Victor Gerardo N ordered gang members in the El Paso area to rent at least two residences to temporarily store marijuana for later distribution.

Ernesto Daniel R, 29 years old; Jesus Dominguez, 33; Rudy C, 29; Santiago N, 25; Isaac G, 47, and Marcos A, 54, were also part of the organization and were prosecuted
