The bids to host the finals of the UEFA competitions in 2027 will not be official until March 2025 and will not be resolved until May of that year, but for now two of the most important stadiums in Spanish football have already shown their interest for hosting nothing less than those of the men’s and women’s Champions League.
As announced by the governing body of European football, Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, home of Atlético de Madridhas applied to host the final of the men’s Champions League in 2027, while the renovated Spotify Camp Nou intends to host the final of the top continental competition in the women’s category in the same year.
«UEFA confirms that it has received declarations of interest from six member federations to host the final of the 2027 Men’s Champions League and the 2027 Women’s Champions League final», this organization confirmed this Wednesday in an official statement.
For the men’s final, in addition to the Atlético de Madrid stadium, which already hosted the decisive match of this competition in the 2018-2019 season (Liverpool-Tottenham), it has also shown its interest the Baku Olympic in Azerbaijan.
More competition for the new Camp Nou
For its part, the renewed Spotify Camp Nou will fight with the National Stadium in Warsaw, in Poland, with St.Jakob Park, in the Swiss town of Basel, and the Millennium in Cardiff (Wales), to host the final of the Women’s Champions.
UEFA has explained that declarations of interest are not “binding”, and that lThe final proposals must be delivered with the reports of each of the candidates “before March 19, 2025”. Subsequently, its Executive Committee will designate the host federations for the two finals in May of that year.
