Metroid Prime 4 was Nintendo's only failed promise for Nintendo Switch, at least so far. The game indeed appears to be almost ready, according to some clues found on a CV. Could it be a cross-generational game and come out on Nintendo Switch and the possible Nintendo Switch 2?
A troubled process
Metroid Prime 4 was announced at E3 2017, and then underwent a complete reboot in 2019, entrusted to Retro Studios (Bandai Namco was initially developing it), with apologies from Nintendo. Nothing has been heard of it since then. Considering the average triple-A development cycles are a minimum of five years, it shouldn't be surprising that it's not ready yet.
Recently, however, the YouTuber SuperMetalDave64 conducted a search among the CVs of the developers of Retro Studios, discovering details that suggest the possible imminent conclusion of the work.
From the resume of Edwin Atwell, a contract developer, we learned that the Metroid Prime 4 demo would be in the testing phase. The CV mentions the use of Jira, a software widely used by development teams that use the Agile method. It must be said that in the triple A field, tests to hunt for bugs can be carried out at different stages of development, so it is not certain that we are talking about a definitive version of the game.
Another interesting discovery is that of the collaboration between Retro Studios and Next-Gen Dreams 3D, a company specialized in the creation of presentation trailerwhich boasts collaborations with Take-Two Interactive, THQ Nordic, Xbox Game Studios, Arkane and, of course, Retro Studios in its portfolio.
In short, according to speculation the game is currently in the testing phase, with Retro Studios also preparing the presentation trailer.
Having said that, it is right to specify that nothing is confirmed. The only certainty is that sooner or later Metroid Prime 4 will arrive and, given the timing, it could be released on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
