Embracer Group rattles off data for Metro Exodus.
The series Meter Of 4A Games has grown dramatically in popularity over the past decade, and with Metro Exodus in 2019, the post-apocalyptic shooter series has reached new heights.
With an excellent story, cutting-edge graphics, and an expansion of the series’ gameplay with a more open design, Metro Exodus has produced arguably the best episode of the series to date and has been widely praised for taking that step forward. Thankfully, that critical reception was also reflected in the game’s sales.
In a recent tax report, Embracer Groupthe parent company of 4A Games, reported strong revenues for the previous quarter (October-December) and cited continued sales of “evergreen” titles in its catalog as the main driver of that revenue. One such game is Metro Exodus, which it has now sold over 6 million units around the world since it first came out in February 2019. The game also saw an impressive improved edition on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S last year, but the company hasn’t mentioned how much that contributed. to its sales.
Unsurprisingly, given the game’s success, Embracer Group and 4A Games both want to continue investing in Metro as a series. A fourth main game in the series is currently in the works while 4A Games is also working on a standalone multiplayer experience. Meanwhile, the developer also currently has a new IP FPS in development.
