Mexico City.- In order for Facebook, Instagram and Messenger users to better understand the privacy policies and conduct guidelines on these social platforms, Meta has redesigned its privacy policies and terms of service.
While the text looks different in many places, with this update Meta will not collect, use or share user data in any new ways, nor will it start selling the information, the company said in a blog post.
“Our goal with this update is to further clarify our data practices.
“Our responsibility is to have strong protections for the data we use and to be transparent about how we use it. That includes more clearly communicating our practices,” the company said.
Platforms will have more ways to access controls that allow you to manage your privacy settings at any time.
Meta also updated the terms of service, detailing the rights and obligations of users.
This is to clarify when you can disable or remove accounts that violate Community Standards, intellectual property rights of others, or other laws.
This update, the first since 2018, will take effect from July 26 and users will not have to respond to the notification to continue using the platforms.
Modifications do not include WhatsApp, Workplace, Free Basics, Messenger Kids, or use of Quest devices without a Facebook account.
Users of these networks will begin receiving notifications today that direct them to information about what to expect from the relevant privacy policy and terms of service in their region.

For Michel Hernández Tafoya, director of Observatel, this global redesign of the way of presenting the policies and conditions of service is important because it equates the measures to standards of countries or regions that have high levels of demand in information protection.
“The design is much more friendly so that the user can access the information. It is an effort for greater transparency and greater clarity,” Hernández Tafoya mentioned in an interview.
For the director, what is needed is for the platform to be clear about what happens to user information in the event of a breach, as well as the process that a user can follow to recover their account if it is stolen.
