Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the absence of Argentine star Lionel Messi from the team against Brest, in the French Football League, while the player is likely to return to the team next week.
Messi missed the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, which ended in a 1-1 draw, after his sample came positive in the new Corona virus tests, and the French capital team only managed to shoot three balls on the goal, and Paris failed to tighten its control over the match.
Paris Saint-Germain issued a statement on the player saying: “With his progress well, Messi continues to work with the club’s medical staff and performance analysis staff, and he will return to the team next week.”
Mauricio Pochettino spoke about Messi’s readiness at a press conference, but he refused to comment on the possibility of Paris allowing Messi to leave for Argentina to participate in the World Cup qualifiers at the end of January.
The former Tottenham coach said: No, Leo will not be available to participate on Saturday, he is better now but he is still under the observation of the medical staff, and we hope to return to the team as soon as possible.
When asked about the possibility of Messi making a decision not to participate with the Argentine national team in the upcoming matches, he said: I do not know what the decision I referred to.
He added: It is evaluated on a daily basis, and we cannot be ahead of events, we hope that everyone will return as soon as possible and be with the team.
