The striking duo of Argentine Lionel Messi and Brazilian Neymar will be absent from the Paris Saint-Germain squad for its next match of the French Football League today, “Saturday”, against its guest, Strasbourg.
For the second match of the new season, coach Mauricio Pochettino did not call up players who participated in the European Cup or the Copa America.
Messi signed with Saint-Germain, after the end of a busy journey with Barcelona, noting that he faced Neymar in the Copa America final, winning his first title with his country.
The 34-year-old did not start training with the French capital team until Thursday.
Pochettino said that the technical staff would go “step by step” with the Argentine striker so that he would be “in the best conditions when he starts.”
“It was a great opportunity to see him in training,” the Argentine coach continued.
He is also absent from the Saint-Germain squad that wants to regain the title from Lille, the Brazilian Marquinhos, the Argentines Leandro Paredes and Angel Di Maria, who participated in the Copa America final on July 10, in addition to the new goalkeeper Gianluigi Gunarumma and midfielder Marco Verratti, who participated in the European Cup final with Italy and Toga at the expense of England. They are continuing their rehabilitation process after returning to training on August 6.
The Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos, who came from Real Madrid, is also absent, and he is not expected to participate before the international break in early September.
Saint-Germain won its first match at Troyes 2-1 with new goals from Morocco’s newcomer Achraf Hakimi and Italy’s Mauro Icardi.
