Residents of the Irish village of Mahara Rowty, County Donegal, found on the beach a bottle sent by a 13-year-old girl with a message that had overcome a thousand kilometers in 13 years. About it informs Donegal Daily.
Friends Marid Gallagher and Margaret O’Brien were careful when they went for a walk on the beach, as a few weeks ago, a bottle with a letter from the USA was found at this place by the villagers.
During another walk, the women found another plastic bottle. At first they thought that it contained curdled milk, but the contents turned out to be a sheet of paper on which the sender wrote a message in 2009. The letter was written in Icelandic, and the Irish women did not understand a word. The women were so excited by the find that they quickly set about looking for an interpreter. They managed to get in touch with an Icelandic woman who lives in Mahara Raurti.

It turned out that the letter was written by a 13-year-old girl from Iceland. She talked about her hobbies and the boys she liked. The girl provided her email address, and the Irish women contacted her.
“It’s amazing: 13 years later, she should be 26 years old. It will be great if she answers. I’m sure she will be delighted when she finds out that the letter has sailed so far, ”said Gallagher.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of the Netherlands found on the coast between the Dutch village of Noordwijkerhout and the city of Zandvoort a bottle with a mysterious message written on behalf of a sailor in distress. The lid of the bottle was well screwed on, so the note inside didn’t get wet.
