Before the war (read: last Wednesday), Andre Polonski had a smoothly running delivery service of homemade food products in and around Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city. This week he went into a metro station with a box of apples to hand them out to the inhabitants of the city who were sheltering there from the Russian missiles. “I have started a service to bring free food and medicines to vulnerable people who can no longer afford it because of the war,” he told Telegram via voice messages.
