Founder and CEO of Mercado Livre, Marcos Galperin announced on his Twitter this Monday (22) that the company will make available the purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. Users now have the option on the website’s marketplace and also on Mercado Pago, the company’s financial platform.
“Starting this week in Brazil, Mercado Livre and Mercado Pago users can buy, store and sell cryptocurrencies,” announced Galperin.

The news was also shared by the president of Mercado Pago, Osvaldo Gimenez. “Brazilian users will be able to buy, sell and store cryptocurrencies in our app. Easy access to cryptos for millions of users with one click and the security of Mercado Pago”.
Mercado Livre has been studying the crypto market for some time – the company bought U$ 7.8 million worth of Bitcoin in May this year. In addition, it has already carried out tests with the sale of properties under payment with Bitcoin.
