Something to think about: If your car gets stolen, would you let the thief go in exchange for (hopefully) returning an undamaged car? Or would you take some damage for granted if that meant getting caught anyway? Then it will probably cost you some damage-free years.
Last weekend, two observant men in Hoogland saw that their neighbor’s car is leaving, but that it is certainly not the neighbor who is behind the wheel. They get into their car to chase the neighbor’s white Audi RS 3. At the same time, they call the police to provide the license plate and location.
You don’t just keep up with an Audi RS 3
The Audi RS 3 with 400 hp disappears from view despite the valiant attempt of the pursuers. Meanwhile, after contacting the owner, it is possible to log in to the tracking system of the RS 3, so that the location is passed on to the police. “Various units from Hilversum and Baarn join in and the net closes around Eemnes,” the police said.
And here’s the dilemma. Because eventually the police loses sight of the Audi again. Then it is decided to switch off the engine remotely – a function of the tracking system in the Audi. Ultimately, the Audi RS 3 is found in the polder near Eemnes, but without the suspect. You might think: if you know the location, wouldn’t you wait to switch off until you’re in the area again?
Living in retrospect is beautiful
We are well aware that it is very easy to talk afterwards. In addition, there is also such a thing as danger. In any case, it appears to have been a good action by the neighbors. “The stolen car has been broken down for traceability and will later be handed over to its owner,” the police said. The car is without damage, according to the photographer on the spot.
