The American Melody Gardot (New Jersey, 1985) is jazz, without being it, still being it. This is how she accidentally described the artist in the French newspaper ‘Le Monde’. And it is that the beginning of her career was motivated by her doctor, who was concerned about the consequences of the head trauma she had suffered when, at the age of 19, she was hit by a car while she was riding a bicycle. Gardot hastened her recovery by composing her first songs while she was still in bed. From there came the EP ‘Some lessons-The bedroom Sessions’.
Since then, the singer-songwriter’s voice has already traveled half the world, transmitting emotion without the need to force registers, as can be heard on ‘Little something’, a song recorded in 2020 with Sting. Now, Gardot returns to La Mar de Músicas after her performance in 2015 with a new voice and piano album (‘Entre eux Deux’), recorded with Franco-Brazilian Philippe Powell, son of the late Brazilian legend Baden Powell de Aquino. . Both piano virtuosos will take the stage at the Paco Martín Auditorium in Torres Park together with Cristopher Thomas on bass and Jorge Bezzeria on percussion. This synergy is presented as a completely new and incomparable sound with her previous works, reaffirming Gardot as one of the great divas of jazz. Her new songs are a hymn to the love for French culture and her adoptive city, Paris.
