Russian Daniil Medvedev reached the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open tennis championship (Australian Open). Results are available at site tournament.
In the third round, the athlete turned out to be stronger than the Dutchman Botik Van de Zandshulp. The meeting ended with the score 6:4, 6:4, 6:2 and lasted one hour and 57 minutes. Medvedev’s next opponent will be the winner of the confrontation between Australian Christopher O’Connell and American Maxim Cressy.
President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev in an interview “Championship.com” praised the victory of the Russian, saying that the result was natural. “Daniel is in good shape, gaining strength. So far so good. There are no weak opponents,” he stressed.
The Australian Open will continue on January 30th. Serb Novak Djokovic is the current winner of the tournament.
