The highest salary in surfing in the world, the assets and annual income of Gabriel Medina are pointed out as the causes of the strain on the athlete’s relationship with his mother Simone Medina.
The surfer has more than R$100 million in assets and annual sales of around R$12 million, considering the championship awards and advertising campaigns, according to columnist Leo Dias.
The Stab magazine, which specializes in surfing, reports that Medina has been the highest paid surfer in the world since 2018. Currently, it is speculated that the surfer’s earnings must have increased 50% and the three-time world champion could close 2021 with profits of around R$ $18 million.
Gabriel has advertising contracts with international companies, including Rip Curl, Audi, Ralph Lauren, TCL and Corona, and national brands, such as Oi and Guaraná.
Before the fight, Simone managed her son’s financial life and the Gabriel Medina Institute, in Maresias, on the coast of São Paulo, which was closed.
The relationship between mother and son began to have problems after Medina married model Yasmin Brunet. Simone says that the model came to control Medina and turned him against the family that is of evangelical religion.
This week, messages exchanged between Simone and Gabriel were exposed on social networks. In the conversation, Simone insinuates that Yasmin and her mother, former model and actress Luiza Brunet, are indecent people. Gabriel’s mother even said that she would have seen an intimate video of Yasmin.
According to columnist Leo Dias, actress Luiza Brunet and her daughter are going to sue Simone Medina for offenses, slander and defamation.
