Newspapers almost 90 percent of Finns read digitally, according to Kansallinen mediatutkimus. The most common digital reading is in the 35-54 age group, of which 95 percent read the digital content of newspapers.
People over the age of 65 use the digital channels of newspapers the least. Four out of five of them also read digital newspapers, either alone or along with paper newspapers. A year ago, digital reading surpassed reading a printed newspaper in the age group over 65, and the latest results show that the number of digital readers has continued to grow.
Only digital newspapers are read by two million Finns. More than 70 percent of the respondents said that they mostly read digital content on their phone.
Printed on the other hand, every second Finn reads the newspaper. According to a media survey, the number has decreased by almost 12 percent in a year.
Reading a printed newspaper varies by age. About 30 percent of people under the age of 24 read paper magazines, and more than 70 percent of older people.
1.8 million Finns read both digital and printed newspapers.
In total, 96 percent of Finns over the age of 15 read newspapers. This means a good four million people. The number has not changed from a year ago.
According to media research, almost 60 percent of households subscribe to a paid printed or digital newspaper.
The national media survey is carried out by Kantar, and 23,000 Finns aged at least 15 respond to it every year. The media survey includes 127 newspapers.
