The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, the popular Carlos Mazón, has expressed his respect for the “pain” expressed by the thousands of protesters who supported this Saturday’s protest through the streets of the center of Valencia.
Before participating in the meetings this Sunday at the Integrated Operational Coordination Center of the Valencian Community (Cecopi), Mazón has indicated his deep respect for the sentiment shown in the demonstration and has added that he prefers not to qualify the incidents that were recorded at term that, in his opinion, “the victims nor the Valencian people deserve.”
Asked about the assumption of responsibilities, the head of the Consell refers to his appearance next Thursday, where he will give “full details”, a session “aimed at the explanations that the affected people and the Valencians deserve” that will be “in a manner ordered.” The leader of the popular Valencians considers that these weeks “there is a lot of permanent, contradictory information”, without mentioning the continuous changes of versions that his own cabinet has made. Mazón assures that “it is an appearance at my initiative, I have not seen anyone else request an appearance from me at the parliamentary headquarters. I have been the only one who has requested an explanation and an appearance,” despite the fact that the opposition has constantly demanded explanations. “We are going to continue showing our face and working for the Valencians,” he assured.
Shortly before, the vice president of the Consell, Susana Camarero, has expressed herself in the same terms and has avoided talking about resignations or changes in the regional Executive. “No resignation is not an option at this time,” stressed the number two in the Executive.
