The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, demands from the central government aid of 31.4 billion euros for the areas affected by Dana de Valencia. The Valencian leader announced this Monday that the first plenary session of the Consell, convened in an extraordinary manner six days after the floods, has agreed on the request for the aid package.
As specified, he asks the central government for a supplement to aid for cleaning homes and purchasing vehicles, a supplement for the Valencian inclusion income and a package to rebuild infrastructure and industrial areas. The Generalitat Valenciana will invest another 250 million euros in the reconstruction of the affected areas. This is a first aid package, noted the president, who stressed: “It is time for resources and facts.”
At the beginning of his appearance, and from outside the Palau, a small group of people shouted “Mazón resignation” when the president began to speak, banging on the door. The Police have expelled them immediately.
This Monday, the Valencian Government and the central government formed the five working groups proposed by Mazón to confront the crisis. In these groups it has already been calculated that the damage to infrastructure alone is estimated at 2.6 billion euros. The Ministry of Labor has also reinforced the “labor shield” for families, with measures agreed with the Valencian Business Confedercaicón.
