Mazón claims “more money” to Sánchez for reconstruction after the DANA and says he is a victim of an “unjust financing system”

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazónhe has announced in the coming weeks, he will go to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to “obtain his economic and maximum coordination commitment” with the objective of “accelerating” the reconstruction of Valencia after the catastrophic Dana on October 29, given that the financial situation of the regional executive is “to the limit.”

This has been expressed this Friday during the presentation of the Diagnostic Report of the Economic and Social Recovery Plan of the Valencian Community, directed by the Second Vice President of the Consell, Francisco José Gan Pampols.

Mazón recalled that the budget item for the DANA, which amounts to 2,364 million euros, will be financed in its entirety with the Debt issuancewhich will make the public deficit shoot up to 1.15%, almost 12 times more than allowed by the Ministry of Finance –0.1% -. The Valencian president stressed that his administration is “penalized” by a “obsolete and unfair” financing system that has demonstrated its consequences with “greater clarity” to reconstruction.

Thus, he defended that the Generalitat is making its “part” to “be up tohe”, and estimated at 1,858 million euros the mobilization of resources so far, an additional amount of the 2,364 million of the budgets. In addition, he celebrated the budget pre -agreement with Vox because he fulfills his “obligation” to give “stability” to the community and continue “advancing” in his government program.

An unprecedented challenge “

Mazón demanded the collaboration of the government based on the fact that “neither flexibility, nor empathy, nor loyalty are values ​​that must be negotiated or claimed”, but “have to be” and “cross each proposal, every action and every decision.”

Above all, he continued, when the Valencian Community “faces an unprecedented challenge for which no effort is left over” and “The Generalitat cannot assume alonenot even with the support of the great business and productive fabric of the Valencian Community and the impulse of all its rich and diverse civil society ».

He also announced that the second vice president and counselor for the economic and social recovery of the Valencian Community, Francisco José Gan Pampols, will urgently appear before the Courts to update the reconstruction data and appeal to the “support” of all parties, not just Vox.

And “With this support,” Mazón will offer his “Institutional loyalty” to Sánchezto whom he will ask for “his economic commitment and maximum coordination to accelerate the recovery process.” «We have to want, we have to know, but we need to be able to do. The impact of the Dana, on figures

For his part, Vice President Gan Pampols broke up data for data the great personal and material damage caused by the DANA of October 29 in Valencia, among which are: 306,000 affected people11,242 homes, 141,000 vehicles and 800 kilometers of roads.

The experienced military has made a breakdown of the negative economic impact of floods by affected sectors by dividing it into five categories: people, infrastructure, companies, environment and social and community fabric.

As for the first category, he explained that the DANA has affected 103 municipalities already 306,000 people, plus 224 deaths and three missing. He has also left Damage at 11,242 homes -475 million euros at replacement cost and 160 in damage to elevators- and in 141,000 vehicles.

In infrastructure, the flood has affected more than 350 kilometers of channels; two dams; two ETAPS and 123 EDARS -780 million in damages-; more than 800 kilometers on roads -360 million euros in damages-; to more than 550 railways -315 million euros in damages-; already 380 bridges and pontones.

Regarding companies, he explained that damage to business assets have been generated worth 13,800 million and an affectation to 275,000 workers. Besides, damaged 64,104 companies and generated more than 3,000 ERTE files that affected 33,000 employees with an average duration of 125 days.

In the environment sector, DANA has generated damage to environmental areas for 122 million euros; and 324 million have been required for waste management. The total cost has been 446 million. In the social and community fabric, the flood has left 168 places affected -20 million in damages; 350 sports clubs affected -10 million in damages- and 40 million in losses for suspension of events.
