Changing of the guard at the top of the Mazda range, with the arrival of CX-60 which in fact takes the scepter of premium choice in the Japanese brand’s offer. The world premiere debut of the new SUV marked an important step for the Japanese brand, with the new model being based on a completely new platform and bringing with it for the first time a plug-in hybrid powertrain with front-engined and rear-wheel drive. . To tell the latest evolution of Kodo Design it was Roberto Pietrantonio, CEO of Mazda Italy.
“CX-60 is an important step for the brand, in this car is represented everything that Mazda has built around its DNA in the past 100 years. – Pietraontonio explained – It is the most advanced and sophisticated product of the brand in Europe that takes up the baton of the CX-5 as a flagship, while remaining the latter in our range. We push ourselves towards the will to conquer a new premium position in the sector and at the same time we pursue carbon neutrality. ” The number one in Italy of the Japanese car manufacturer then went on to describe how the new SUV represents in all respects the natural evolution of the path taken by the Hiroshima brand: “Here Mazda’s magnificent obsession with the Jimba Ittai, Japanese refinement and care for interior and exterior design, dynamic performance and respect for the environment evolve to the highest levels. We had the courage, albeit small, to create a Large platform with rear-wheel drive and longitudinal engine, flexible and able to accommodate different technologies and different degrees of electrification. The CX-60 will feature the plug-in hybrid but we will also launch new internal combustion engines, diesel and petrol, which will also play an important role in the future of the fight against climate change. “
The price list starts from 49.950 Euro per the Prime Line version, already very rich set-up. Added to this are the Exclusive Line, Homura and Takumi (Japanese word for “craftsman”) fittings. On this last level we note the great attention that Mazda wanted to reserve from the point of view of finishes and materials, according to the canons of Japanese aesthetics. Packs and additional options can then be added to these configurations. The costs thus reach 63,800 euros for the full optional Takumi. In the presale phase for the Italian market, the Mazda CX-60 is offered with the Premiere Choice formula: for all contracts signed by August 31st, the Convenient & Sound Pack will be offered free of charge in addition to the 3-year ServicePlus maintenance program. The first deliveries are expected to start in September.
