F1 2025, two more Italian GPs
Today Formula 1 communicated its plans for 2025, a very important year not only from a sporting point of view – it will in fact be the last with this generation of power unit – but also from an organizational one. In fact, there are several circuits with contracts expiring in 2025. And among these there are also Monza And Imola: the only difference at the moment is that the Santerno circuit should have a place in the 2026 calendar to make up for the race not held last year.
Next year could therefore be the last year of coexistence on the calendar of Monza and Imola, a dynamic that has occurred since 2020. But, as assured by the mayor of Imola Marco Basketsthe institutions are working to ensure a continuation of the double Italian GP even after the fateful date of 2025.
Panieri's words
“While we wait to experience the emotions of this year's Grand Prix, from 17 to 19 May, we are continuing with teamwork and teamwork at multiple levels to keep these two GPs in Italy and give a long-term perspective“These are his words.
“Imola is ready for this year, its territorial system has already made and is making important investments in the structures, on the route, on the hospitality and multifunctionality of the spaces, working hard on the valorisation of the Motor Valley and in particular of Terre e Motori”. I thank the partners, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Infrastructure and Transport, Business and Made in Italy, the Ice Agency, the Emilia-Romagna Region and Aci. Formula 1 is an opportunity for attraction, visibility and relaunch for Made in Italy which is very precious for the whole country, not just for Emilia-Romagna“.
The words of Sticchi Damiani
The president of ACI Angelo Sticks Damiani wanted to comment on next year's calendar, which will see F1 in Imola from 16 to 18 May and in Monza from 5 to 7 September: “Today's announcement confirms ACI as the only body in the world that organizes two world championship Grand Prix on its territory and is the right recognition of the commitment we are making to ensure that fans can enjoy the spectacle of Formula 1 in venues that are always more comfortable and in step with the times“. The comfort of the facilities is precisely the game that Monza (above all) and Imola must win to remain on the calendar from 2026. The president of F1 Stefano Domenicali has repeatedly specified that “history is not enough” and that the tracks must keep up with the times in terms of services and usability of the event.
