The Dutch triple world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) reinforced his leadership in the Formula One World Championship by winning the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prixthe seventh of the year, held this Sunday at the Imola circuit (Italy), where the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) finished fifth and the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), eighth.
Verstappen, 26, achieved his fifty-ninth victory in F1, the fifth of the season, by winning the Autódromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola – in a tight finish – ahead of the Englishman. Lando Norris (McLaren) and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who finished second and third, respectively.
The other Spaniard, the Asturian double world champion Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) – who had started from the pit lane – finished the race in nineteenth position.
