This was stated by the Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko during her official visit to Tajikistan, which Izvestia visited together with the delegation of the Federation Council.
According to her, Western countries have been preparing a state unconstitutional coup in Ukraine for years and armed nationalist forces to support it.
“And when this happened, we saw that Ukraine was being made into a state hostile to Russia. People have been brainwashed. They pursued a Russophobic policy. Rewrote history. They showed Russia as an aggressor. With the support of the West, Ukraine was turning into a Nazi state,” Matviyenko said.
She noted that Russia was alarmed by this, but “we patiently, with constant persistence, said that we are more than anyone interested in Ukraine being a peaceful, prosperous state.”
