Mattarella: “Vaccination moral and civic duty, the pandemic is not over”
“Vaccination is a moral and civic duty”: declared the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during the traditional ceremony of the Fan organized by the Roman press association at the Quirinale.
A clear message, addressed to no vax, but also to those parties and politicians who wink at those people who do not intend to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
“The pandemic is not behind us yet. The virus has mutated and is proving even more contagious. The more the time of its wide circulation is prolonged, the more frequent and dangerous its mutations can be ”, underlined the Head of State.
“Only thanks to vaccines we are able to contain it. The vaccine does not make us invulnerable but greatly reduces the possibility of contracting the virus, its circulation and its danger. For these reasons vaccination is a moral and civic duty“.
While never mentioning him directly, then Sergio Mattarella also tackled the Green Pass node. “Freedom is an indispensable condition – underlined the Head of State – but who limits our freedom today is the virus, not the tools and rules to defeat it“.
“If the law does not provide otherwise, we can say: ‘The vaccine does not enter my house’. But this cannot be said for common environments, it cannot be said for shared spaces, where other people have the right that no one brings you a high risk of contagion; because they prefer to say: ‘the virus does not enter my house’ ”.
Mattarella also spoke about the school, underlining how fundamental, starting from September, the return of face-to-face teaching is.
“The pandemic has imposed great sacrifices in many areas. Anywhere serious. I emphasize those of the world of school”Declared the president.
“We recorded some cultural and human damage, widespread psychological sufferings that make it necessary to react promptly and with determination ”.
This is why “it is necessary to return to an orderly school life and fill the gaps that have formed. The regular course of the next school year it must be aabsolute priority“.
Mattarella also spoke of the Recovery Plan: “The planned interventions and reforms must now become reality. When such far-reaching interventions are put in place, destined to have a profound impact and with lasting effects, it is necessary to practice a great capacity for listening and mediation. But then you have to be able to make clear and effective decisions, respecting the commitments undertaken “.
