Maternity and work, women who are always too little protected: how can the phenomenon be stemmed?
A reader writes to Affaritaliani.it after “First page“, the daily press review broadcast on Rai 3, conducted this week by the deputy director Lorenzo Zacchetti.
“I would like to share with you my reflection / proposal on the theme of denatality. I start from mine personal case: I have three daughtersthe former worked as shop assistant in a bar, with a contract fixed term (annual). As soon as the owner knew he was pregnant he told her that he would not renew her contract because he could not bear the costs. All legal, so it was and goodnight work (in any case, our grandson Elia was born!).
There second has a job in indefinite period and she had our second grandchild, Libero, but she would have liked to continue to raise him at least until the year or maybe a little more. What’s happening? Salary deduction after the seventh month. Why … this is not done! You have to come to work! It doesn’t matter if i nests they cost (when there are) or there are not grandparents that they can stay with their grandchildren! There third tells us that she he will never have children: she prefers to be an aunt who travels and brings gifts to her grandchildren.
So: I am convinced that I live in one society that punishes women that start a maternity. In fact, the result is 100,000 unborn babies every year. We deserve it. We are a nation that is dying out because punishes women who wish to bring into the world or follow their (and perhaps only) child in the best possible way, so … we deserve it. Just recently the last beautiful: for the competition from the head of the municipal brigade they wanted the negative pregnancy certificate of no more than 5 days!
And so, in a nation that is dying out, a thought comes to me: but where would my grandchildren grow up? What other nation could give them and their children more quality of life? Do we really have to leave? But … If we consider the maternity nowadays an absolute value, to be adequately promoted and protected (thesingle check it’s a trifle, it only collects the necessary crumbs), then perhaps we should have the courage to convince 100,000 women every year to have at least one child.
How? By guaranteeing them a adequate maternity allowancefor example, € 1,500 net for 3 years. The cost? 1,500 * 12 * 3 * 100,000 = € 5,400,000 when fully operational, and perhaps sustained for 10 years in a row. It doesn’t matter if the woman has a stable family or not, it is she who must be protected and reassured, whatever her position in a couple relationship (but also as a single !!!).
Economists could have their say, not so much on the costbut on the I earn of the induced! If … that’s what we can call the fact of increasing the number of citizens, of thinking heads, of support for the nation, of geniuses, of artists, of simple and honest people doing their blessed work … How much is this induced worth in the future? Could we calculate it? I believe that, for example, the insurance companies know something about it, so much so that they “pay” for lives no longer lived for various reasons … of a statistical life is about ten million dollars. In Italy it is about five million euros “.
So, what should these 100,000 be worth new babies born every year? would it be worth the investment? As I have proposed, 54,000,000 would be spent in 10 years to allow the birth of 1,000,000 children, who will “be worth” in life … 1,000,000×5,000,000 = 5,000 billion. If I’m not mistaken, the account is: I invest 54 and earn 5,000. I don’t know if crypto would do the same. I leave you the starting point for a reflection that I would like to call your own “maternity income“if you think so”.
