For Maserati MCXtrema it's time to get back on track. And it couldn't be otherwise, considering that everyone and 62 specimens of this super sports car that will be produced will be approved precisely for use on the track: in recent days the Trident racing car has been subjected to new tests which will see it engaged until the end of April, in view of the delivery of the first copy, which will happen by the end of summer this year.
Maserati MCXtrema takes to the track
“Taking to the track with a new car always gives a gift particular, unique sensationjust like MCXtrema – commented Andrea Bertolini, chief test driver of Maserati who took the new MCXtrema to the track for its first official outing at the Autodromo Varano de' Melegari in February – A marvelous creature born to devour the asphalt and dance between the curves, a true jewel of mechanics and aerodynamics, perfect for balance and handling. For months we worked together with a team of highly qualified and passionate people, waiting for the moment when we would bring the finished machine into its natural habitat, after putting it to the test in the virtual world thanks to sophisticated simulations.”
Even more powerful Nettuno engine
The latest tests to which the Trident track super sports car was subjected were fundamental in collecting the data necessary for the final fine-tuning of the car itself, and in particular in putting the full power of the engine to the test 740 HP 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, derived from the Nettuno engine that the Modena car manufacturer has brought to a higher level. Without forgetting that all these activities on the track were accompanied by a important virtual workwhich included approximately 200 hours of driving on the Maserati dynamic simulator and 1,000 hours of virtual analysis for various types of simulations.
Born for the track
“With MCXtrema we have further raised the development bar, working from a track perspective and always taking into account the needs of the Maserati customer, who remains at the center of our work and to whom this car is dedicated – concluded Bertolini – The interiors were designed around the pilot; we developed a cockpit that was halfway between a fighter and a Formula 1 single-seater. MCXtrema is an evolution of the MC20 not approved for the road: on the Trident's super sports car par excellence we had already developed a obsessive work with the handling and in the general architecture, to then arrive at its most extreme and exhilarating version. MCXtrema is a thrill to drive, unlike any other car”.
