He arrives Maserati Grecalethe new SUV which will also be the first electric car in Maserati history. Grecale carries the name of a wind and it is a range in the range, which satisfies any request with any engine: traditional and hybrid combustion engine mild-hybrid.
Grecale has three different souls: GT, Modena and Trofeo with the latter representing the top of the range in terms of sportiness, thanks to its 530 hp V6, derived from Neptune engine of MC20.
Later will come the full-electric Grecale Folgorewhich will use the 400 Volt technology.
Maserati Grecale GT, Modena and Trofeo
Developed by the Maserati Innovation Lab of Modena, the new Grecale is produced in Cassino plant in Italy. There are three versions planned at launch: GTpowered by a mild hybrid 4-cylinder engine capable of developing 300 hp; Modena with 330 HP 4-cylinder mild hybrid engine and the powerful Trophyequipped with a powerful 530 HP 3.0L V6 petrol engine.
At the launch Grecale is also available in the Launch Edition PrimaSerielimited edition edition characterized by exclusive contents.
Maserati Grecale dimensions
Grecale was born onarchitecture George ofAlfa Romeo Stelviosuitably modified to accommodate electrified motors.
It is a generously sized SUV: in the version GT is long 4,846 mm with a step of 2,901, 1,670 mm high, 2,163 mm wide (mirrors included) with a rear track of 1,948 mm (which becomes even greater in the Trofeo version).

Therefore the exterior style is strongly influenced by that of the supercar. Grecale, like MC20, no longer has a horizontal look, but a vertical one. The front is therefore characterized by a low grille and from one imposing grille without being excessive.
At the rear the boomerang lights, inspired by the 3200 GT by Giugiaro, integrate with a typically Maserati setting and a trapezoidal line. Finally, the designs of the exhausts are new, which are in the Trofeo version split thanks to the design of a specific uvula.
The Modena and Trofeo versions adopt a sportier style with an increase in the rear track by 34 mm compared to the GT version.
The design of the grill remains the same for all versions, but the sticks that are chrome in the GT version, they become black in Modena and Trofeo.
Maserati Grecale cockpit, how is it inside?
The passenger compartment of the Maserati Grecale SUV reinterprets the style of the cars of the 70s in a modern key, such as the Ghibli and their T-shaped structure The sense of contemporaneity is emphasized by the level of content and the cleanliness of the design: they can be counted four screensthe classic cluster and the new 12.3 ” central element, a smaller 8.8 ” comfort display with accessory controls and the new digital clock.
The presence of technology allows you to clean the drawing and delete buttons also from the central element to leave more space to the large armrest, to the large glove compartment with double wing butterfly opening and to the charging area for the mobile phone.
The aesthetic cleanliness is highlighted through the materials and finishes: the seams of the dashboard resume the double saddle themecreating a continuity with Levant. The attention to detail is extreme, just dwell on the minutiae of the metal laser grids for the Tweeter and Midrange speakers of the new Sonus faber sound system or on the chrome finishes of the digital smart watch, the central air vents and the driving mode selector.
Another style detail is the light behind the central display, able to give a “living room” effect with diffused and soft lighting, adopted for the first time inside a car.
Maserati Grecale V6 engine
The six-cylinder twin turbo from 3,000 cc and 530 hp di Grecale develops around the TCM technologyMaserati Twin Combustion first appeared on the Neptune engine which propels MC20 with a technology inherited from Formula 1 and based on the pre-chamber.
Compared to the MC20’s Neptune engine, the Grecale six-cylinder shows up with wet cup and no longer dry.
But above all, it is an engine equipped with deactivation with a completely redesigned technology. Under certain operating conditions it is possible deactivate the right bank keeping the valvetrain at rest thanks to a system of collapsible tappets.
Maserati Grecale hybrid mild-hybrid
In the hybrid version Grecale combines the 4-cylinder heat engine a sistem 48 volt mild hybrid. The Maserati hybrid system consists of four elements: BSG, 48 volt battery, eBooster it’s a DC / DC converter. The BSG (Belt Starter Generator), which acts as an alternator, charges the battery placed in the boot compartment which in turn serves to power the e-Booster with which the thermal engine is equipped a double turbo supercharger.
The purpose of having an electric compressor on the car is to go to compensate the lack of delivery of a classic turbo supercharger in the first revolutions of the engine when the electric thrust.
Maserati Grecale Electric shock at 400 V
Grecale will be the first fully electric SUV in the history of the brand. The future 100% electric version of Grecale will be named Folgore and will arrive in 2023.
It will be equipped with one 105 kWh battery who will use the 400 Volt technology.
Maserati Grecale trim and suspensions
Maserati’s new electric SUV will be able to deliver well 800 Nm of torque, guaranteeing the typical performances of the Brand. It will also be recognizable by the exclusive color Copper Folgore. The air suspension they are standard on Grecale Trofeo, while they are optional on the versions Mild Hybrid. The height of the air springs is strictly related to the drive mode used.
Six levels of suspension adjustment, user selectable and linked to drive modes. The total travel of the air suspension is 65 mm. From normal mode, the suspensions range from a minimum of -35 mm park mode to a maximum +30 mm in the mode Off Road. Finally, when the car is in Parking mode, the height is adjusted to make it easier to get out of the car.
Driving Grecale you can choose between five different driving modes: Comfort, GT, Sport, Corsa and Off-Road. The modality Race is offered only on the Trofeo and also includes the Launch Control.
Maserati Grecale infotainment
The latest generation multimedia system MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) features one 12 “3 screen, the largest ever mounted on a Maserati, with a resolution of 15 million pixels in Ultra HD.
The heart of MIA is the operating system Android Autowhich allows you to connect two phones simultaneously via Bluetooth, giving the possibility to manage various priority functions such as phone calls, music selection and text messages. Passengers can use Apple CarPlay And Android Auto to use phone apps in mode wireless quickly and easily, leaving phones safely stowed away.
The infotainment system also provides voice control which is activated as in this example: “Hey Maserati, change the temperature to 21 degrees”.
