In 2023 it will arrive Maserati’s first electric SUVand will be called Grecale Folgore. The car will have the same design features as the vehicle presented by the Trident at the beginning of spring 2022, except for small adjustments, and will complete a Grecale range that is characterized by a certain depth, wider than other models of the past. Maserati tries to catch up with Porsche, the main rival for its markets, even if technologically thearchitecture di Folgore will be less avant-garde according to what is declared by the Italian brand itself (controlled by Stellantis).
Grecale Folgore will be produced in Italy and will be equipped by one 105 kWh batterybased on proven technology a 400 Volt (Porsche sails on the 800 V, as a comparison). Maserati’s new electric SUV will be able to deliver well 800 Nm of torque, thus ensuring the maintenance of the typical performance of the Trident. The electric car will be launched on the market with color Copper Folgore, a shade that comes from extensive research on how dye can interact with light, which evolves into living matter, in constant interaction with the environment. “The inspiration comes from contemporary architecture, in particular from the facade of the Guggenheim in Bilbao, in which the warm tones of Copper of the light areas coexist with the cold shades of blue gray of the shadow areas, colors made possible thanks to the use of iridescent pigments“, Maserati reports in a note.
The key concept underlying Maserati’s approach to the world of electric is the metamorphosis. This evolution is reflected in the use of innovative materials such asEconyl, a new element. It is a recycled nylon obtained through the recovery of nets from the seas, among other things, a detail that will pose Grecale Folgore on a more sustainable level also in addition to the theme of the engine. Maserati has not released any other information regarding the future electric SUV, but we know that this version cannot cost less than 75,000 euros, the level of the GT trim level which forms the basis of the hybrid version.
