The crisis caused by the shortage of microchips and semiconductors has also put Maserati to the test. And it was the cause that led the Trident car manufacturer to postpone the debut of the new SUV Grecale, initially scheduled for November 16, next spring. The wait has therefore been prolonged, despite this new details about the next Maserati crossover continue to emerge: the last ones concern the engine range, which will include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology.
This engine seems to be shared with the Ghibli and Levante Hybrid, albeit with a lower power: the specifications speak of 296 HP of total power and 450 Nm of maximum torque. If confirmed, these numbers would mean 29 hp less power than those of Maserati’s more premium offerings, but would also correspond to a 0-100 km / h shot that can be consumed in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 240 km / h. . Clearly this will not be the only solution proposed on Maserati Grecale: those who aspire to more power can in fact opt for a weakened version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that equips the MC20. Both of these engine configurations will be offered in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive (in certain driving modes more power will be sent to the rear wheels). Finally, a 100% electric version of the Grecale SUV, called Folgore, is also expected in 2022.
