The debut at Misano
There Maserati is experiencing a particularly special moment in his experience in Formula E: the Modena-based company is on the one hand fresh from success of Maximilian Günther in the first ever edition of the E-Prix of Tokyoand on the other hand is preparing to dispute the his home appointment in Misano Adriaticoalso here for the first time in the history of the 100% electric category.
Objective: to enthuse the home crowd
Before now, in fact, Formula E had only arrived in Italy on the EUR street circuit in Rome. From this year, the Bel Paese will instead welcome the category on the permanent track named after Marco Simoncelli, with the cars that will compete in the various sessions of the rounds 6 and 7 on a layout other than the full one. An event therefore highly anticipated by the only Italian team, as confirmed by Giovanni Sgro, Manager of Maserati Corse: “Formula E finally arrives in Italy, the home race for Maserati – he has declared – for the first time we will race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, an Italian jewel of world motorsport, a circuit that every year witnesses breathtaking battles on the track and where the very fast Gen3s and drivers will compete to get on the podium. After Max's victory in Tokyo we can't wait to excite our fans in this truly unique double event. We are almost halfway through the season and so far we have excelled in every weekend, finishing in the top 10 and after Tokyo with the first victory of the season. The whole team is doing a great job in every round, focused and present to climb the rankings. We are very proud of each of them and hope to bring Italian fans new reasons to celebrate this weekend.”
Günther at ease
An event that was also deeply felt by Maximilian Güntherwho after his success in Japan will go looking for a second, or even a trio, on the Romagna circuit: “I can't wait to race at Misano this weekend – he added – It's the home race of the Maserati brand, and the last time we raced in Italy we achieved a truly special podium. Misano it is the first circuit built specifically for us this season, so it will be a big challenge to adapt to this type of track. The victory in Tokyo was a great result, we feel good about our package and our way of working and we look forward to continuing this momentum in the upcoming races here in front of the fans.”
First points for Daruvala?
Aim for a positive outcome too Jehan Daruvalaso far without any points and eager to get out of an uncomfortable area of the standings in Italy: “Misano is a fantastic circuit and I can't wait to race there this weekend – he concluded – when I moved to single-seater racing in 2015, Misano was one of the first circuits I raced at, and it was the site of one of my first podiums and my first pole position, so I have a lot of memories. This season I have been ahead of the game, but as Misano is another new track in Formula E, every team starts from the same position. I feel quite confident in my lap pace and have worked hard to improve my performance in race conditions. Hopefully we can see the result of this hard work with some points this weekend.”
