Insomniac Games video games have been the first to want to take advantage of PS5’s VRR.
By surprise, last night the landing this week of the VRR to PlayStation 5 was reported, ending a year and a half of requests from the community. Now, the work is left to the developers to seek to make use of this function, and one of the first to sign up is Insomniac Games, which has announced the landing of two patches for Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales.
The most outstanding? As we read in the patch notes for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered 1007 and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales 1013, players with a compatible monitor or television will be able to enjoy the Fidelity mode at 40 FPS, a claim quite requested by users as this topic on Reddit demonstrates. Below are all the details provided by Insomniac on its website.
- 120 Hz display mode (along with system settings):
- Lower input latency
- Increase Fidelity mode performance target to 40fps
- Lower input latency
- Support for VRR through system settings:
- When 120Hz display mode is off, slightly increase dynamic resolution target
- When 120Hz display mode is on, performance rate is unlocked and varies by game
- When 120Hz display mode is off, slightly increase dynamic resolution target
- Increased the quality of Ray Tracing reflections with low dynamic resolution.
With the advent of VRR, PlayStation hopes to deliver a smoother gaming experience on PS5 by minimizing or removing visual artifacts. For now, yes, there are only a few video games that will include it at launch.
Insomniac Games thus shows that it continues to work to improve the experience of its video games launched on the market, while on the horizon it has the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, as well as a multiplayer proposal.
