Crystal Dynamics in the storm over the unfulfilled promises of Marvel’s Avengers.
A few days ago Crystal Dynamics introduced in Marvel’s Avengers an element that has made many users turn up their noses: these are the experience boosts that can be obtained for a fee, to have immediate improvements to the characters.
The wrath of users is linked to the fact that, according to the players, the developers have failed to make a promise made in the previous months to never introduce pay-to-win microtransactions in the game. The motivation for including these paid items is officially to facilitate the experience of new players, given the extensive content now present in the game.
Although we can discuss the ethical and moral issue related to the introduction of these XP boosts obtainable with real money, it remains to be condemn the reaction of some users, which have also come to threaten and harass members of the Crystal Dynamics team. In a post on the official Marvel’s Avengers Reddit, the study intervened on the matter, stating that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
“The firm’s decisions are not made by one person, but by a group of leaders. We welcome all feedback, but not if it is inappropriate, with personal threats or attacks on community team members. (…) to keep the tone of confrontation civil and productive, as we continue to work to make Marvel’s Avengers a fun and entertaining experience for all of you. “
