Something is changing in the origins of Marvel heroes and in the sights of Jason Aaron now there is Frank Castle, aka Punisherthe American anti-hero who at first was a soldier who never came out of the war, more precisely from that of Vietnam (in his books he read at the beginning of each adventure “war diary, day X place Y”).
Already with the comics of the early 2000s the origin of the character was revisited and from that comic entitled “Welcome back, Frank” they also drew a film with John Travolta, whose success was not excellent but not so much to forget since we were in the middle of the pre-Marvel Studios era.
Since then, water has passed under the bridges and today the author of comics Jason Aaron has decided to revisit the childhood of the “king of killers” (title that has arrogated after the recent events with the ninja cult The Hand) specifying that the boy began to kill well before becoming a marine in effect and then consequently the Punisher of New York.
Indeed the “punishments” began when as a boy, pre-teen Frank saw a couple in his neighborhood killed at the hands of a local mobster: wearing the Captain America mask, the budding The Punisher followed the thug home and literally set him on fireletting him run through the streets screaming and on fire, as a warning to the whole neighborhood.
The purpose of the major is to strengthen the reboot of the character, to better highlight the details of this new story arc, the whole thing is further complicated by the mystical aspects of the story, which brought his wife back to life Maria, in a way that makes us (and Frank) reconsider the “tragedy” that defined its origin against the karmic weight of one’s sins. As we know, the ex-marine also escaped from the embrace of Lady Death thanks to the intervention ofArchangel Gabrielwho awakened the Punisher to make him the avatar of divine justice on earth.
