Presented at the San Sebastián Festival, ‘Aztarnak. Huellas’ addresses concepts such as obstetric violence, parenting and work-life balance
When the director Maru Solores (San Sebastián, 1968) became pregnant, she felt that many things did not fit around her. «I had always been afraid of childbirth. I thought that it would be best if they anesthetized one at that time and removed the child like that, painlessly, in the ‘easiest’ way possible. However, I began to ask myself that if my body was capable of gestating a human being for nine months, to form a human being from just two cells, how could I not be able to bring it into the world? Nature would have something prepared about it, right? ‘
‘Aztarnak. Huellas’ is a documentary that questions the secrets that this stage that we do not remember hides and that ranges from intrauterine life to approximately three years. Are the traces of childhood forever or do they transform over time? In addition to the mother director and narrator, several families and experts reflect on a film presented at the San Sebastian Festival, which addresses concepts such as obstetric violence, parenting and work-life balance.
