The games known as “moleros” have become a headache for the national teams, however, the game against Ecuador was an interesting experiment, since Tata Martino opted for a youth base that played in a good way despite of defeat.
It was Martino himself who highlighted the way in which those selected from El Tri faced the game and affirmed that despite the defeat, he ended up satisfied with what he saw on the pitch.
“The boys played a beautiful game, they circulated well, they were dynamic, they deserved more than this. We made specific and individual mistakes that made the rival score goals but they did it well.”
– Gerardo Martino
Similarly, Martino highlighted the work done by Fernando Beltrán, noting that the ‘Nene’ showed quality and hierarchy with everything and that he does not have regularity within his team.
“I highlight Beltrán because for being a boy who does not play so regularly, today he had a very good game, he showed hierarchy and his quality. It is not easy for someone without such constant rhythm and he left me with pleasant sensations.”
– Fernando Beltran
Martino concluded by stating that, for these players to remain in the Mexican National Team and compete with the star group, they must become benchmarks for their teams.
