The debutant ‘votes’ for the Doctor
The heir of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez. The MotoGP, desperately looking for a new charismatic face to lead the movement, has bet everything on Pedro Acosta, a rider born in 2004 who won the Moto3 title on his debut and the Moto2 title on his second attempt. ‘The Shark’ did not disappoint expectations, enchanting right from the start in MotoGP, reaching the podium in Portimao and Austin at the end of two races as an absolute champion with surgical and clean overtaking attacks against champions such as Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia.
In the last two races Acosta he fell in an attempt to even play for the victory, but these are physiological errors for a driver who immediately revealed himself to be a new variable to take into consideration for the drivers aiming for the world title, an objective which will become such for the GasGas driver only starting from next season.
Questioned by DAZN on the hypothetical personal podium in terms of talent of the riders who have followed one another in the world championship, Pedro Acosta has no doubts about placing himself on the top step of the podium Valentino Rossi ahead of Marc Marquez or Giacomo Agostini. “I have had a good relationship with Rossi since he invited me to the 100km of champions and I think he has done many good things for motorcycling – Acosta’s analysis – if Rossi had announced his wild card in Barcelona the circuit would have been full and the paddock as well. It is he who brought MotoGP to its current level of fame and it is he who has been the point of reference for the new generations. He is the father of the whole paddock and I would like to look like Rossi.”
