MotoGP returns to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, where it raced last month, to compete in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the second stage of the calendar on the Italian track. In the first race held there, Marc Marquez had conquered a fourth position, taking advantage of the battle between Joan Mir and Jack Miller, overtaking them on the last lap.
Between the two races at Misano, the Honda rider took his second victory of the season, winning the Grand Prix of the Americas held in Austin, a talismanic track for the Spaniard. Now Marquez is focused on improving his performance compared to the last race on this same track, while continuing to recover from the injury in July 2020 and which continues to affect him.
“We are returning to Misano in a better situation – explains Marquez on the eve of the race weekend – every weekend we have been able to improve a little more. Now there are the last three races of the season, so we hope to be able to continue on this line and finish the season well. In the last race here I had a very fun battle with Miller and Mir, so I hope we can fight again ”.
The previous race at Misano took place in very hot and humid conditions, but the weather will be very different this time: “Let’s see what happens, the conditions could be quite different despite only a few weeks have passed since the last race”.
At the moment Marquez is seventh in the general classification and in the last races of the season he could aim at the fifth or sixth position, currently occupied by Miller and Brad Binder, respectively. He would be the first Honda rider in the standings.
