Always controversy about Marc Marquez
In the recent Mugello stage, Marc Marquez he had joked with reporters about the whistles that he receives in Italy: “I went from an 80-20 to a 50-50, being a Ducati rider helps.”
It is certainly no mystery that the Spanish driver has a strong and divisive personality in our country it is certainly not popular after what happened in Sepang in 2015.
Many Valentino Rossi fans – and Italian supporters in general – they never forgave the Spaniard for interfering in the Doctor’s hunt for his tenth world title. For his part, Marquez has always remembered that Rossi accused him in the press conference, unfairly in his opinion, for the Phillip Island race and that he decided to behave without too much respect for his rival.
For his part, Rossi has reiterated for years that he has never seen a rider race to make an opponent lose, without any personal gain, and has often underlined how 2015 is still an open wound in his legendary career.
Tardozzi wants to go further
During a long interview given to CycleWorldthe Ducati sporting director Davide Tardozzi he faced head-on the hatred that Marquez arouses among Italian fans: “We must say that the Sepang events date back almost 10 years ago. We look at the rider’s performance and his ability to develop the bike together with Pecco and win titles. We look forward and to the future, and not to the past. In this sport there are fans who follow a single rider, but also those of Ducati, who support the brand.”
Another striking point is theBagnaia’s membership in the VR46 Academybut here too Tardozzi toned down the controversy: “It’s true that Pecco is a rider from Valentino Rossi’s Academy, but he is a solid champion. Our priority is that the atmosphere in the garage remains harmonious as it is today. My job will be to preserve it.”
