The Technical Coordination Group of the Trentino Civil Protection – with the general manager Raffaele De Col – has established the start of ‘phase two’, lasting 10 days, for the management of the Marmolada area concerned, Sunday 3 July, since the collapse of the serac in which 11 people died.
The research of the finds at high altitude will continue with the use of the drones of the Permanent Fire Brigade: every 3 days (therefore starting from Wednesday 13 July) the collection of geo-localized material will be carried out by the joint team with two dog units composed by Volunteer Fire Brigade of Canazei, Alpine Rescue of Trentino, Police and Guardia di Finanza, for a total of 10 operators. The safety of people will be guaranteed by two lookouts and by the use of interferometric and doppler radars, which monitor any movement of the glacier. Then ‘phase three’ will start, “with the suspension of the research and the evaluation of a partial reopening of the mountain, based on the technical data supplied by the monitoring equipment”, he explains.
“Also on behalf of the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, I would like to thank each of you for the commitment you have made in this difficult week of incessant activity, at high altitude as well as in the valley. Trentino is proud of you” were the words of the general manager of the Civil Protection Department, Raffaele De Col.
