At the Extra supermarket’s butcher shop in the Jardim Ângela neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of São Paulo, the meat was weighed, the consumer received an empty tray and only picked up the product after paying at the checkout. The account is from a customer who was informed by supermarket employees that the procedure had been going on for almost a year.

Customers took the empty tray with the barcode and an employee would go to the counter where the purchases are and pick up the product. The customer was also informed by employees that other units of the Extra supermarket in the suburbs were doing the same sales procedure. The information is from the Uol portal.
The supermarket chain’s press office responded to Uol through a note that “this procedure is not part of its service policy, it is a specific procedural failure. As soon as it became aware of the fact, the store made arrangements for the practice to be immediately discontinued. The network remains at your disposal for any clarification.”.
According to Uol, after the report, the Jardim Angela unit changed the sales procedure and the meat is now delivered directly in a bag, no longer in an empty tray.
