The complaints about the meetings in the Mar Menor are now joined by the residents of Mazarrón, who criticize that there are also meetings in front of the Isla de Adentro
Cartagena Maritime Captaincy will be inflexible with the participants in concentrations of more than ten ships in the Mar Menor, but also in any other part of the coast of the Region of Murcia. Óscar Villar, the head of this department, dependent on the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, was so blunt yesterday, who yesterday already began to organize surveillance of the coast with the Civil Guard to prevent meetings such as the one held last Saturday in front of the island of the Deer. That notice has already been sent to all the yacht clubs, so that they can remind their members of it.
The device will be reinforced, Villar assured, even more this coming weekend in the lagoon, “which is when and where we are detecting more concentrations of boat owners, even in highly protected areas.” Meanwhile, this body continues with the investigation to find those responsible for the party last Saturday. At the moment, the technicians of the Maritime Captaincy and the agents of the Benemérita have already spoken with two companies with boats participating in the meeting.
They look for the organizer of the party on Saturday and try to locate the participants, who face fines of 1,500 euros on average
with a music group
“There must be an organizer and we will find him,” warned the sea captain. The intention is to contact a boat that was carrying a music group playing, something for which “they did not have permission,” he assured. The penalties could be around 1,500 euros on average, although they could reach up to three million euros.
On the other hand, residents of Mazarrón have denounced before their City Council, the General Directorate of the Natural Environment of the Autonomous Community and the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard the concentration throughout the summer of boats in the vicinity of Isla de Adentro, where they anchor on the posidonia meadow and within the LIC and ZEC protection perimeter. The number of ships, they criticize, is increasing. The worst thing is that they make “scandalous” bottles, some of them at night, which, they say, no authority puts an end to.
Four points with low oxygen between Los Nietos and Los Urrutias
Like every day, the technical team of the Murcian Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research and Development (Imida) carried out measurements of oxygen levels yesterday morning at 79 points in the coastal area between Los Nietos and Los Urrutias, in the Minor Sea. The results reveal that the average level of oxygen in that specific area is 5.63 milligrams per liter (mg/l), although in 4 specific points it was below 4 mg/l (at risk of hypoxia). The Ministry’s report indicates that no anomaly was detected and no alerts were received from the rest of the Mar Menor areas.
