The producer from Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of HopeXavier Manzanares, revealed in an interview theidea at the base of the sequelwhich as we know introduces several new features compared to the first episode of the series.
After the many background in the interview with the director of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Davide Soliani, Manzanares added further elements by talking about when the team met to understand which direction to take.
“It all started in 2018, we were completing Donkey Kong Adventure and checking our work up to that point, the best things we had done, the new things we had added and what we wanted to do in the future,” said the producer.
“I went to Milan to visit our studios there and it was me, the producer Gian Marco Zanna and the creative director Davide Soliani discussing what the next steps would be. One thing we immediately established is that if we wanted to making a new Mario + Rabbids with the approval of Nintendo and Ubisoft should have been amazing. “
“It couldn’t have been the same surprise as Kingdom Battle in 2017, which came out of nowhere: no one expected it and we couldn’t repeat it. (…) So we thought about the possible changes to be made to the gameplay to make something more of a sequel that could catch players who had tried Kingdom Battle or had no experience with strategy game by surprise. “
Hence the ideas relating to the absence of a grid for movements, which are free, and the possibility of freely exploring the worlds available within the Sparks of Hope campaign, but not only.
