The Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR), through the Mexican Navy, activated the Marine Plan in its Relief phase in Quintana Roo and in the Prevention phase in Tamaulipas and Campeche. This measure responds to current meteorological conditions, caused by a low pressure system with the potential to become tropical cyclone ‘UNO’, located over the Gulf of Mexico.
According to the most recent forecasts, this phenomenon could make landfall on the night of June 19 or the early morning of June 20, between the southern coast of Tamaulipas and the northern coast of Veracruz. Heavy rains are expected in the northeast of the country, accompanied by strong winds and high waves on the coast of Tamaulipas and the north of Veracruz. Likewise, the influence of this weather system will continue to generate intense precipitation in the states of the Yucatán Peninsula and strong winds with high waves on the coasts of Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
SEMAR has provided specialized personnel, tools, vehicles and air and surface units to carry out evacuation tasks and safeguard human life in the face of the threat of hydrometeorological phenomena. The population must stay informed and follow the recommendations of the Secretary of the Navy, Civil Protection and local authorities.
